Inhabiting Propaganda

Inhabiting Propaganda

Final project at the Strelka Institute of Architecture, Media and Design

Moscow, 2013

Watch presentation

This project suggests a way of visualizing the history of the housing policies, and intents to encourage the collective memory for the political events and political regimes. The project reinterprets the Soviet tradition of placing propagandistic slogans on top of the buildings in form of three-dimensional letters. It suggests this time to decorate the tops of the residential buildings with the quotes from significant official documents which started a new course of housing policies and, thus, changed the city’s future as well as the lives of its inhabitants. The buildings chosen for the project are the physical manifestations of the quotes placed on top of them.

Inhabiting Propaganda

— Architectural arrangement
of the capital city must fully reflect the grandeur
and beauty of the socialist epoch.

Inhabiting Propaganda

— The life has confirmed that solving these problems
is only possible by fully switching the mass
constructions to the industrial track.
